Undergraduate Studies
The Bachelor of Media undergraduate degree addresses media history, theory and practice over three years of full-time study (longer for part-time study). The degree is structured around core units of media studies and production at 100, 200 and 300 levels. The first year of study includes a common core of media theory units focusing on Australian and international media. At 200 level, students begin to specialise in particular production streams - Screen Production, Writing or Multimedia. At all levels, students are encouraged to supplement their media studies with elective units reflecting complementary fields of study and their own interests, which may include units offered within the Division of Society, Culture, Media & Philosophy, or elsewhere in the University. To qualify for graduation with BMedia, students need to meet the following requirements:
- Complete 68 credit points in total, 38 of which must be at 200 level or above and 18 of which must be at 300 level or above.
- Complete an approved study pattern.
Official and up-to-date requirements for the awarding of the BMedia Degree are published annually in the Macquarie University Handbook of Undergraduate Studies.
