2008 Initiatives in Response to Student Feedback
In 2008 the Media Department has implemented a number of reforms to its teaching program, including a re-structuring of the BMedia. These initiatives are direct responses to suggestions and requests made at student forums and other forms of student feedback.
These reforms include:
- All 200 and 300 level Media units become 4 cps, with the exception of MAS 300 Media Internship and MAS 316 Seminar Unit, which will become 4 cps in 2009.
- All Screen Production units will have weekly rather than fortnightly workshops.
- All Print Production units will have 2-hour weekly workshops.
- MAS 300 Media Internship will be open to all 300 level BMedia students.
- In addition, overseas short-course media production options are available to BMedia students. These intensive study units in TV production (Butler University, Indianapolos) and newspaper and online journalism (Columbia University, Missouri) are designed to supplement production offerings in the BMedia. They are taught in December/January and July and earn credit points towards the BMedia. Details will be announced in Media production units in first semester 2008.
