Research Culture

Higher degree research in the Media Department is highly valued for its contribution both to local and international scholarship and to Media's teaching program. Postgraduates are considered to be researchers. In the Media Department we aim to support innovative and critically informed media arts production, theory and writing projects in as many ways as we can. Our staff are media arts practitioners/theorists and act as sounding boards for the development of new work where appropriate.

We aim to provide an intellectually and creatively stimulating environment and we especially encourage applications from people who already have a creative practice that engages with ideas and who think that Macquarie University’s Department of Media could be a good environment for their next project.

Higher degree research is supported by research methodolgy coursework, seminars, colloquia and conferences. Funding assistance to support research-related activities is available through Department, Division, and University sources. For more information on funding please click here.
